BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

From Hondo to Rondo, the Celtics keep on trucking.

When Wildcard host Aaron Atayde asked me what to me has been the most surprising teams in the NBA, I said without hesitation Boston and LA.

He gave me that quizzical look but really, for two teams that played in last year's NBA Finals, they sure have come out like gangbusters -- kicking butt and taking names.

Did anyone think they'd ever be this good? Get out of here, you fooking liar.

Boston has actually been very good despite the loss of key players from last year's squad. But they'll be judged on how they finish the season.

The Big Three in the meantime is actually now the Fantastic Four. Rajon Rondo is who makes these Celtics go.
